After chase, Facebook murder suspect found dead in suspected suicide

US court fines Brazil's Odebrecht $2.6 billion


A US judge has fined Brazilian engineering firm Odebrecht 2.6 billion dollars.

The company pleaded guilty to bribing officials in 12 countries - mostly in Latin America - in December last year.

Suspected U.S. coalition air strikes kill 23 in Syria

Suspected US-backed air strikes have killed at least 23 people in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zor, human rights observers say.

The US-led coalition has yet to comment. US President Donald Trump had promised to increase America's bombing caampaign against IS militants.

Nationwide Hunt Underway for US Facebook Killer

A search is still underway across the US for a suspect who posted footage of himself on Facebook shooting a 74 year old man dead on the street.

Steve Stephens said in another video post that he had killed 13 people and would kill more.

Facebook vows review of internal procedures as US manhunt continues

Facebook says it may tighten internal procedures in a bid to keep violent and offensive videos off the social media platform.


The move comes as police in the US continue to hunt a suspect who posted video of of a murder on Sunday.

Theresa May's decision to call a snap British general election took the financial markets by surprise.


Share prices in London dipped on the news, with investors fearing several weeks of volatility in the UK.


Voters, too, were caught unawares by the Prime Minister's announcement.

Corbyn welcomes snap election

Britain's opposition leader, Labour's Jeremy Corbyn has welcomed the surprise announcement from Prime Minister Theresa May that she is seeking a snap election on June 8th. 

The British leader is thought to be strengthening her position ahead of hugely complex Brexit talks with European Union leaders.  

While Mr Corbyn is trailing behind Mrs May in the opinion polls by a sizable margin, the leader who remains unpopular amongst his own party members says Labour will take the fight to the whole country.   He says he will campaign for better funding for schools and health services, along with a fair Brexit.

A major new conservation report says that the world's most beautiful and iconic sites are under threat from poaching and trafficking. Prince William speaks about the risks to mental health of the "stiff upper lip"

Prince William, Britain's second in line to the Royal throne,  has spoken about the importance of expressing emotions and the risks to mental health if they are bottled up.

Students clash with police in Indian state of Kashmir
