Corbyn welcomes snap election

Britain's opposition leader, Labour's Jeremy Corbyn has welcomed the surprise announcement from Prime Minister Theresa May that she is seeking a snap election on June 8th.

The British leader is thought to be strengthening her position ahead of hugely complex Brexit talks with European Union leaders.

While Mr Corbyn is trailing behind Mrs May in the opinion polls by a sizable margin, the leader who remains unpopular amongst his own party members says Labour will take the fight to the whole country.   He says he will campaign for better funding for schools and health services, along with a fair Brexit.
