UK Supreme Court Rules on School Absence Fines

The UK's Supreme Court has ruled against a father who was fined for taking his child out of school to go on holiday.


Jon Platt was issued a £120 penalty (150 dollars) for the unauthorised term-time absence.


Judges at the UK's Supreme Court said the school's rules specified regular attendance was essential, as our UK Correspondent Natalie Powell reports…

Report: Twenty Turkish nationals under invesigation for spying in Germany

A German newspaper reported that twenty Turkish citizens are currently under investigation for spying in Germany.

The alleged espionage was carried out against followers of the Gulen movement, which Turkey blames for a failed coup attempt last summer.

Kremlin plans nationwide anti-terror rallies in response to Monday's deadly bomb attack

China summons Indian ambassador over Dalai Lama tour

China's foreign ministry has summoned the Indian ambassador in Beijing in protest of the Dalai Lama's ongoing tour of a disputed region between India and Tibet.

Sec. Tillerson blames Assad for chemical attack

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says there is no doubt the regime of Bashar al-Assad is behind the chemical attacks in Syria.

U.S. President Donald Trump called the attacks an affront to humanity, saying it has changed his mind about the situation in Syria.

During a photo opportunity with the Mexican Foreign Minister, Secretary Tillerson also had a message for Moscow.

take unilateral action against Syria if the UN Security Council is
unable to agree.

Nikki Haley was speaking during a tense meeting about Tuesday's
alleged chemical weapons attack that killed more than 72 people.
