Trump takes apart water regulations

US President, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order to review
water regulations.

He'd previously said that they needed to be looked at to ensure they
weren't harming the economy.

The regulations, from the Obama administration, were criticised by
some - with farmers saying they were having a negative impact on their
businesses.

US Atty Gen'l May Pull Back from Investigating Alleged Police Abuse

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he's worried a recent increase in serious crimes may signal a violent new period ahead for the United States. 

In his first major speech as the country's top law enforcement officer, Sessions also said the Department of Justice is likely to pull back from investigations of alleged police abuse.

FBI classifies shooting of Indian men as hate crime

The FBI has announced its investigating a shooting in the state of Kansas that targeted two Indian men as a hate crime.

The attacker apparently thought his targets were Iranian.

Russia vetoes Syria resolution at UN

Russia, joined by China, vetoed a United Nations resolution punishing Syria for the use of chemical weapons.

Syria has been in the midst of civil war for six years, and a UN panel found that chemical weapons were used at least three times in 2014 and 2015.

Steve Mort reports from Moscow that this is not the first time Russia has come to Syria's rescue.

China and Russia veto UN sanctions on Syria

Russia and China have vetoed a United Nations Security Council
resolution aimed at punishing the Syrian government for its alleged
use of chemical weapons.

The move marks the first time that the United States and Russia have

Top Republican calls Trump's proposed State Department budget cuts "dead on arrival"


A prominent Republican in the US Senate is calling President Trump's budget proposals "dead on arrival" on Capitol Hill.


Senator Lindsay Graham of South Caroline says he's horrified by reports that President Trump plans to pay for a massive US military build-up by slashing the State Department's budget by up to one third.


Foreign aid programs are among the President's targets.


The Senator told reporters on Capitol Hill that the White House doesn't understand the importance of America's global diplomatic efforts

Kansas shooting suspect said he'd 'killed two Iranians'

Police say an American man arrested for shooting two Indians at a Kansas bar last week later told a barmaid he had just "killed two Iranian people".

Adam Purinton fled 70 miles to Missouri after the attack where he confided in a staff member at a restaurant.

The chain of department stores collapsed last year with a huge deficit in its pension scheme.
