Trump: Leakers will "pay a big price"

US President Donald Trump is vowing that intelligence officials who have leaked information to the media will "pay a big price".


His comments came amid reports that his top aides were in "constant contact" with Russian government officials during last year's American election campaign.

Tlllerson: Russia must work towards peace in Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he will consider working with Russia on areas of common interest, but that he expects Moscow to honor its commitment to deescalating the conflict in Ukraine.

The remarks came after Tillerson met with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov in Germany.

Warnings for Oroville dam as storms move in

Hundreds of thousands of people living near a dam in Northern
California are being warned to stay vigilant as storms move in.

Almost 200 thousand people had to be evacuated from their homes after
concerns that Oroville dam could fail.

Trump 'Wants Ally To Investigate Intelligence Agencies'

US President Donald Trump is planning to appoint a billionaire friend of his to lead a review into American intelligence agencies- that's according to the New York Times.

The paper reports that Mr. Trump wants to put Stephen Feinberg in charge of an investigation into leaks from the intelligence community, after blaming such leaks for the departure of his national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Former Trump adviser denies Russian contact

The former Donald Trump adviser Roger Stone has denied claims he was in contact with Russian intelligence officials during the 2016 presidential election.

In an interview with NBC News, Mr Stone said he welcomed an investigation to clear his name.

Threatening to catch "low-life leakers", Trump poised to launch review of US intelligence

President Trump is launching a review of America's intelligence agencies writing on Twitter that "low-life leakers….will be caught".


He's reportedly turning to a New York billionaire to conduct the review which comes after a series of leaks relating to alleged contacts between top Trump advisers and the Russian government.

NATO discusses fight against Islamic State

NATO members are discussing the ongoing fight against the so-called Islamic State.

The meeting takes place as members come under pressure from the new Trump administration in the United States to increase defense spending and do more to address the ISIS threat.  

Speaking in Brussels at the start of the meeting, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that while the alliance is not formally a part of the anti-ISIL coalition, every member is contributing.

Investigation into Trump administration leaks requested

The chair of a key Congressional panel has asked the U.S. Justice Department to open an investigation  into why so much information, especially classified information, is being leaked from the White House to reporters.

These leaks have revealed the Trump administration to be in turmoil, but the American president is posting on social media, he's happy for the investigation to start.

MATTIS 'OPTIMISTIC' ABOUT NATO SPENDING

US Defence Secretary James Mattis says he's optimistic NATO allies will boost defence spending so Washington doesn't have to reduce support for the military alliance.

Mr Mattis had threatened the US could 'moderate' its NATO commitment unless allies honour military spending pledges.

But speaking at a NATO summit in Brussels, he says he's been reassured that fellow members are moving in the right direction.

And Secretary Mattis says NATO's principle of collective defence is not in doubt.

Church of England rejects opposition to same-sex marriage blessings

The Church of England's ruling body, the General Synod, has dismissed a report opposing same-sex marriages from The House of Bishops - which forms part of the Synod.


The UK legalised same-sex marriages in 2013, however The Church of England had been exempt from offering blessings, while other religious organisations would have to 'opt in'


But as our UK correspondent Natalie Powell reports, the General Synod decided not to take note of the report which maintained that church marriages should be between a man and a woman.

Rex Tillerson arrives in Germany for G20 meeting

Syrian talks in Astana kick off after delay

SECOND WOMAN ARRESTED OVER KIM JONG NAM DEATH

A second woman's been arrested by Malaysian police over the death of Kim Jong-nam, the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The two women who have been detained have reportedly been remanded in custody for a week.

Kim Jong-nam died on Monday after a reported poisoning at Kuala Lumpur airport.

US and South Korean sources believe he was poisoned by North Korean agents.

Japan's Softbank to buy New York's Fortress for US$3.3B

Japanese internet and telecoms giant Softbank has agreed to buy New York private equity firm Fortress for $3.3 billion US dollars.

Harrison Ford investigated by the FAA

The actor, Harrison Ford, is being investigated by aviation
authorities after he allegedly landed a plane in the wrong part of an
airport.

It happened in California - south of Los Angeles. His plane apparently
flew over an airliner that was preparing for takeoff.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to keep the focus on Iran, and it's pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Trump 'can live with' one-state peace deal

US President Donald Trump says he "can live with either" a one-state or two-state solution for peace between Israel and Palestine.

At a meeting with Israli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the president said he would work hard to deliver a peace deal but insisted both sides would have to make compromises.
