Church of England rejects opposition to same-sex marriage blessings

The Church of England's ruling body, the General Synod, has dismissed a report opposing same-sex marriages from The House of Bishops - which forms part of the Synod.

The UK legalised same-sex marriages in 2013, however The Church of England had been exempt from offering blessings, while other religious organisations would have to 'opt in'

But as our UK correspondent Natalie Powell reports, the General Synod decided not to take note of the report which maintained that church marriages should be between a man and a woman.
