35 Russian intelligence operatives given 72 hours to leave the U.S.

U.S. President Barack Obama has issued an executive order to expel 35 Russian intelligence operatives from the U.S., three weeks before he leaves office.

Administration officials say the package of measures, which include sanctions on Russia's top intelligence services, are in direct response to Russian threats to U.S. national security.

US sanctions Russia for cyber attacks

The Obama administration has issued a round of fresh sanctions targeting Russia for its attempts to influence the 2016 presidential election and theft of data.

US Coalition: Top ISIS commander killed in Syria

Iraqi forces launch second phase in Mosul assault

Military officials have announced that forces in Iraq are launching a
second phase in their bid to recapture Mosul.

The so-called Islamic State have controlled the city since June 2014
but have lost about a quarter of it since the offensive began 10 weeks
ago.

Obama administration in final push to transfer more Guantanamo inmates

The Obama administration is working against the clock to complete the transfer of close to 20 inmates from the controversial prison at Guantanamo Bay.

The White House needs to complete the process before President Elect Donald Trump is sworn in next month.

Germany releases suspected terror accomplice over lack of evidence

Germany's Federal Prosecutor's office has released a man detained over a possible connection to the truck attack in Berlin that killed twelve people.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which was carried out by a Tunisian national who was later killed by Italian police.

RUSSIA ANNOUNCES SYRIA CEASEFIRE DEAL

Russia has confirmed a ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and opposition forces has been reached.

Both sides also agreed to start peace talks.

The deal was brokered with Turkey's, Russia's and Iran's cooperation.

Child Asylum Seekers Launch Legal Action Against UK

US actress Debbie Reynolds has died at the age of 84.

She'd been rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke, a day after the death of her daughter Carrie Fisher.

Debbie Reynolds starred in the 1952 musical Singin' in the Rain and was leading lady in a series of Hollywood hits in the 1950s and 60s.

In 2010 she spoke of being a strict mother to Carrie Fisher.

Obama Creates National Monuments in Nevada, Utah

US President Obama protected two massive areas in the American West
Wednesday, including a patch in southern Utah that has been at the

Debbie Reynolds hospitalized - reports

Just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died, reports out of Los Angeles say Debbie Reynolds, her actress mother has been hospitalized.

Debbie Reynolds, age 84, has been a star in Hollywood for more than six decades, including her iconic role in the classic American film, 'Singing in the Rain.'

Trump criticizes United Nations

Donald Trump is saying the United Nations is a waste of money when it doesn't work.

He spoke to reporters after a long day of meetings with people who may or may not join his administration.

The president elect has also urged Israel to stay strong, that change is coming January 20, following a strongly critical speech by Secretary of State John Kerry and the UN resolution on Israeli settlement policy.

Takata expected to pay 1bn in US air bag settlement

Japanese auto parts maker Takata will pay nearly one billion dollars to settle allegations of criminal wrongdoing relating to its faulty air bags in a suit brought about by the US Department of Justice, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Takata is expected to plead guilty to criminal misconduct as part of the settlement.
