US Says It Will Limit Arms Sales To Saudi Arabia

The Pentagon has said it will limit its arms sales to Saudi Arabia, after civilian casualties linked to air strikes in Yemen.

The US Defence Department announced it will no longer deliver precision guided weapons to the Saudis, as it's concerned about the way air strikes are being targeted.

China and Trump in war of words over Taiwan

China has warned that any attempt by the new U.S. administration  to cultivate deeper relations with Taiwan would damage relations with Beijing.

Under China's 'One China Policy', Taiwan is not recognized as an independent state, but rather as part of mainland China. 

It's a position the U.S. has traditionally respected- until Donald Trump disturbed the status quo.

US interest rate rise expected

Trump meets with tech leaders at Trump Tower

Some of the biggest names in the US technology industry will meet with President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday at Trump Tower in New York.

Mr Trump clashed with Silicon Valley on several issues during the campaign, including immigration and government surveillance.

But the Republican appears to be courting their advice now and has added the bosses of Uber and SpaceX to one of his advisory boards.

European Parliament suspends cash payment to UKIP, says party has been misusing public funds

The European Parliament has suspended payment of 90,000 euros to a think tank linked to UKIP, because ti suspects the party has been awarding contracts in exchange for donations.

Germany to begin deporting Afghans

A plane carrying about fifty rejected asylum seekers back to Afghanistan is expected to take off from Germany on Wednesday.

The flight comes amidst concerns that they may face danger upon returning to their home country.

Aleppo evacuation delayed as ceasefire holds

It's reported the evacuation of remaining rebel fighters and civilians from the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo has been delayed...

A ceasefire between rebels and the government was agreed on Tuesday, but there remains confusion. 

Evacuations were due to begin in the early hours on Wednesday but a fleet of government busses brought in is yet to leave. 

The ceasefire comes following a UN report that civilians left in the remaining rebel-held areas in the east of the city had been killed "on the spot".

Obama signs cancer research bill

US President Barack Obama has signed into law the "21st Century Cures Act" which invests in cancer research and combating drug abuse.

The bill is likely the last Mr Obama will sign as President.

The act, which earned bipartisan support, earmarks some $6.3 billion dollars for health research and initiatives over the coming decade. 

The bill targets the need to invest in curing cancer, fight back against the growing epidemic of opioid abuse in the US, and improve the country's mental health resources.

UN: Rebels in Eastern Aleppo to withdraw as Syrian government reaches deal

Paris Attacks Planners Killed In Coalition Airstrike

Two men involved in the November 2015 Paris terror attacks were killed
during a US coalition air-strike in Syria. Pentagon officials confirm
the men, Salah Gourmat and Sammy Djedou, were members of the so-called

UK Foreign Sec Johnson: Aleppo aid drops "impossible" without Russia permission

The British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says Russia and Syria must put in place an immediate ceasefire in Aleppo...

The UN says dozens of civilians, including women and children, have been "shot on the spot" by forces loyal to the Syrian government.

Uganda King Charged with Terrorism

A court in Uganda has remanded King Wesley Mumbere to prison after fresh charges including terrorism were brought against him.
