US President Barack Obama has signed into law the "21st Century Cures Act" which invests in cancer research and combating drug abuse.
The bill is likely the last Mr Obama will sign as President.
The act, which earned bipartisan support, earmarks some $6.3 billion dollars for health research and initiatives over the coming decade.
The bill targets the need to invest in curing cancer, fight back against the growing epidemic of opioid abuse in the US, and improve the country's mental health resources.
