President Obama turns fire on Republican party

US President Barack Obama turned his fire on the Republican party for standing silently during Donald Trump's controversial presidential campaign.

A series sexual assault allegations against Mr Trump - which he denies - has led to many Republican politicians denouncing their presidential nominee.

But President Obama said it was too late for Republicans to try and jump ship.

New Zealand hopes to break UN Syria impasse

New Zealand has presented a new draft resolution on Syria to the United Nations Security Council in the hopes of breaking the deadlock.

It comes after the Council voted against two competing resolutions on Saturday after Russia and Western nations were unable to find common ground.

New York and New Jersey bomber suspect pleads not guilty in first court case

US Judge Issues Criminal Summons against Chris Christie over Bridgegate

A judge in the US state of New Jersey has issued a criminal summons against the local Governor, Chris Christie, accusing him of misconduct for his alleged role in the closure of a bridge back in 2013.

Prosecutors say the George Washington bridge, connecting New Jersey and New York City, was deliberately closed as political revenge.

Donald Trump denies fresh allegations of sexual misconduct



Donald Trump has denied allegations from a number of women that he sexually assaulted them, calling it a 'total fabrication'

Speaking at a rally in Florida, the Republican Presidential candidate said he was the victim of a politically motivated attack.

Trump's lawyers have called on the New York Times, which published accusations from two women who say they were molested by Trump, to retract the story.

Other women have since come forward with similar accounts of alleged inappropriate behavior by the New York tycoon.

These latest revelations follow the leak of an audio recording in which Donald Trump boasted about groping women.

UN General Assembly appoints new Secretary General Antonio Guterres

The United Nations has confirmed that Antonio Guterres will be the
next Secretary General - after a Wednesday approval process by the 193
member states at the General Assembly.
