President Junker Gives SOTEU Address

European Commission President Jean Claude Junker gave his annual State of the European Union address in Strasbourg.

When it comes to the United Kingdom leaving the bloc—he says Europe must maintain a friendly relationship but the UK cannot keep all EU benefits once it leaves the bloc.

And to boost security in the wake of a string of terror attacks--President Junker says Europol will have access to more data to make sure those coming into Europe have a right to be in Europe.

Despite falling support for new trade deals, President Junker says the EU needs to move forward with trade deals to create jobs across the continent.

And he says with the European Union seemingly less unified from Brexit and disagreements over the refugee crisis—it's time for Europe to focus on its common values.
