US Advises South Sudanese Leader to Stay Away

The United States says former South Sudanese Deputy President Riek Machar should not return to his job.

Machar represents a significant faction of the opposition, which is meant to be included in the current peace plan.

US swimmers suspended following Rio Olympics scandal

Four American swimmers who lied to Brazilian police about being mugged at gunpoint have been punished by the US Olympic Committee.

Star athlete Ryan Lochte and his teammates have been suspended for their conduct, but as our North American correspondent John Clarke reports, Lochte's troubles might still not be over.

Airbnb announces steps to address discrimination

The popular home-rental service Airbnb has announced changes to address complaints of discrimination, especially from African-American customers.

Aerial Zika spraying set for Miami Beach

Aerial insecticide spraying to combat Zika is set to begin in the popular US tourist resort of Miami Beach.

Several cases of the virus have been linked to the city, and authorities plan to use a controversial chemical to tackle its spread.

ECB holds interest rates and keeps bond buying program on same track

The European Central Bank has announced it is keeping interest rates the same at zero per cent.

The 80 billion euro per month government bond buying program from the ECB will be continued until the planned end date of March 2017 - but can be extended if necessary.

The euro currency hit a two week high off the back of the announcement.

Growth in the eurozone only increased by 0.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2016 -  down for 0.5 per cent in the first quarter.

European Central Bank president Mario Draghi has continued to call on the national governments in the Eurozone to increase the pace of their reforms if there is to be growth.

F1 to be bought by Liberty Media

Formula 1 is to be bought by US company Liberty Media for 4.4 billion dollars. Regulators will need to approve the deal before a full takeover, in the meantime Liberty will purchase a minority stake in the motor-racing business.

UK tech company Micro Focus is buying the software business of Hewlett Packard in an $8.8bn deal.

It's part of Hewlett Packard's downsizing as chief executive Meg Whitman focuses on core business.
