US Economy Adds 151,000 Jobs in August

Figures from the US Labour Department show that the American economy added 151,000 jobs in August - slightly fewer than analysts had predicted.

Wage growth also took a step backwards, at a pace of just 2.4%.

As Lorna Shaddick reports from New York, the data will be the last monthly employment information the Federal Reserve policymakers see before they decide, later in September, whether or not to raise interest rates.

British Junior Doctors Face Criticism for Proposed Strike Action



A decision by British junior doctors to launch a series of five day strikes, has received some criticism from medical leaders who say their response is disproportionate.


Junior doctors are have said they will carry out industrial action in the coming four months, over UK government plans to impose a new employment contract.

Taxi service Uber has won the right to take London's transport authority to court over a decision to make its drivers take English tests...

UK URGED TO TAKE MORE CHILD REFUGEES FROM CALAIS

Hurricane Hermine moves closer to Florida

The coastline of the US state of Florida is preparing for a direct hit by Hurricane Hermine.

The storm is packing sustained winds of 75 miles per hour [120 kph] and is already bringing drenching rains to large parts of the state.

A state of emergency is in place as some residents are urged to evacuate ahead of landfall.

Think tank says US, other powers granted secret nuclear exemptions to Iran

Serious questions are being raised about how the US and other negotiating partners had secretly allowed Iran to evade restrictions in the landmark nuclear deal signed last year.

Facebook satellite lost in SpaceX explosion

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he's "deeply disappointed" at the loss of one of the company's communications satellites.

The AMOS-6 satellite was destroyed when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket set to carry it into orbit exploded during a test firing in Florida.

The cause of the blast is unknown but happened while the rocket was being fueled. No one was injured.

UN Syria Special Envoy Urges US and Russia to Agree on Ceasefire
