Sanders welcomes resignation of top Democratic official as Convention begins

Senator Bernie Sanders has told his delegates to the Democratic Convention that the resignation of a top party official creates the possibility of "real change".

He was speaking shortly after the FBI launched a probe into the hacking attack on Democratic Party servers that revealed party leaders had worked to scupper Senator Sanders' Presidential bid.

But he says he is standing by his support of Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and will work instead to change the Party's internal rules following the resignation of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the head of the Democratic National Committee.

Hillary Clinton tells VFW she doesn't understand Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton, the expected Democratic Party nominee, told the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, she wants to bring people together.

She did not name Donald Trump, but her speech to the military veterans is a contrast to the picture painted by the Republican nominee last week at the Republicans convention.

Most of Hillary Clinton's speech was quite measured, except for her energetic description of who she is not.

Dover delays could cause weeks of disruption

Delays for British holidaymakers trying to drive to France have eased - but the disruption caused by the weekend's extortionate queues to the Port of Dover could last for weeks, police say.

Over the weekend drivers found themselves stuck in14 hour traffic jams due to a large number of people off on their holidays, but also because of increased border checks in France.

While congestion levels are reportedly back to normal, the knock-on effect means it's likely travellers heading towards the crossing could face delays for weeks to come.
