Queensland Nickel treated like Clive Palmer's own personal piggy bank

In Australia, the administrators of Queensland Nickel have pledged to pursue businessman cum politician Clive Palmer's mining and property interests to recover around $200 million owed to creditors of the troubled nickel refinery.

Brussels attacks suspect says they were planning to hit Euro 2016 football championships in France

Islamic State terrorists were planning to bomb the Euro 2016 football tournament in France according to a recently arrested suspect in the Brussels attacks.

A source close to the investigation says Mohamed Abrini who was detained in the Belgian capital Friday says they were planning to strike the football championships in France this summer.

CAMERON PRESSURE CONTINUES ON TAX

British Prime Minister David Cameron remains under pressure to publish his full tax returns from before he took office.

The opposition Labour Party says there are still questions about his finances after he admitted having held shares in an offshore trust.

Mr Cameron insists he has paid all UK tax due and has published a summary of tax and earnings dating back six years.

The Prime Minister also told the UK House of Commons his government would press ahead with new measures to clamp down on tax evasion.

Freedom of speech questions over German comedian


Questions over freedom of expression in Germany are being raised after a well known comedian is being investigated by authorities after reading an obscene poem about Turkey's President on a late-night television show.


Turkey made a formal request to Germany to prosecute Jan Boehmermann over the incident.

Republican leaders hit back after Trump called nomination process "rigged"

Republican leaders in the United States are hitting back at Donald Trump after he described the process of choosing the party's Presidential candidate as "crooked".

WH: Obama's knowledge of 'Clinton emails investigation' from media reports only

The White House began the week defending comments made by President Obama over the weekend.

During a Fox News appearance Fox News Mr Obama said that despite the handling of the emails, Mrs Clinton had not jeopardized America's national security.  

The former US secretary of state is currently under investigation by the FBI for the use of a private email server from 2009-to-2013.

Microsoft Endorses EU-US Privacy Shield

Microsoft has become the first United States tech giant to agree to sign up for the EU-US Privacy Shield. 
That’s a new transatlantic commercial data pact.

It would replace the Safe Harbor framework,  which was struck down by the EU’s top court last October, leaving the digital services trade between the EU and the US in legal limbo.

US officials: Zika is "scarier" than we thought

US officials are warning that the threat from the Zika virus to the US is "scarier" than originally thought.

In a joint presentation, officials from the National Instituties of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Zika could spread to 30 different states and is being linked to an increasing number of physical and mental impairments in babies.

These include microcephaly, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and vision imparements.

Last week, the Obama Administration decided to redirect nearly $600 million in funding from Ebola research to fighting Zika, but NIH Director Dr. Anthony Fauci warned much more money is needed to properly combat the disease.

He said if Congress doesn't allocate more funds for Zika, other programs including research into malaria, tubercluosis, and the universal flu vaccine will suffer.

Goldman Sachs to pay more than $5 BN settlement for misguiding investors

American multinational bank, Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay $5.06 BN
in a settlement over claims that the firm misguided some investors
during the financial crisis.

That's according to the US Department of Justice that has overseen the
investigation into investors' claims.

German New Year's Eve Attacks - First Sexual Assault Trial

The first trial relating to a string of sexual assaults on New Year's Eve in Germany is taking place in the city of Dusseldorf.


Police received over a thousand complaints largely blaming foreigners, 500 of which were reported to be sexual assaults.

Threat of terror attack on US transport 'low'


A terrorist attack on some form of US surface transportation is currently a low risk - according to the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration

The UK Prime Minister David Cameron has faced MPs in the Commons for the first time following an ongoing row over his personal tax affairs.

During this time the chancellor George Osborne and shadow First Minister Jeremy Corbyn joined a number of MPs in publishing their tax returns, a move Mr Cameron said not all members should feel obliged to do.

CAMERON DEFENDS FINANCIAL AFFAIRS

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has defended his own financial arrangements after it emerged he'd held shares in an offshore trust.


Mr Cameron has been addressing British MPs, and insisted he'd done nothing wrong.


And he's announced British overseas territories will be forced to open up more information to UK police and law enforcement officials.


It all follows the Panama Papers leak of financial data - in which David Cameron's late father was named.
