WH: Obama's knowledge of 'Clinton emails investigation' from media reports only

The White House began the week defending comments made by President Obama over the weekend.

During a Fox News appearance Fox News Mr Obama said that despite the handling of the emails, Mrs Clinton had not jeopardized America's national security.  

The former US secretary of state is currently under investigation by the FBI for the use of a private email server from 2009-to-2013.  

Speaking on Monday spokesman Josh Earnest said the President's knowledge of story came from public news reports, not insider knowledge...
