SENIOR CONSERVATIVE IN RACISM ROW

British Prime Minister David Cameron's policy chief is caught up in a racism row with a newly-released memo containing controversial comments about black communities.

Oliver Letwin blamed rioting at Broadwater Farm in London in 1985 on 'bad moral attitudes' and also suggested plans to boost black entrepreneurs would see them opting for the 'disco and drug trade'.

Mr Letwin, then an advisor to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, has apologised 'unreservedly' for any offence and says his comments were 'badly worded and wrong'.

Labour MP Simon Danczuk says Oliver Letwin has more explaining to do.
