Iran cuts a quarter of its centrifuges in under a month - news reports

Iran has reportedly cut back a quarter of its uranium-enriching centrifuges -- in under a month -- to meet terms of a nuclear deal.


Iran and six world powers adopted the agreement on October 18 to lift sanctions in exchange for restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program.


But questions remain about the significance of the reduction so far.

House Speaker Ryan 'refugee program should be paused until threat level assessed'

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, the man second in line to the Presidency, weighed in on the debate swirling around the admittance of refugees from Syria.

The House is expected to vote on a bill blocking refugees on Thursday.

US says momentum must be maintained by all sides to achieve Syria ceasefire withing weeks

The US State department says all sides must maintain a sense of urgency in order to ensure that a ceasefire in Syria can happen soon.

Speaking in Paris on Tuesday Secretary of State John Kerry has said that a break in the fighting could be just weeks away.

It would allow nations supporting Syria's various factions to concentrate more on combating the Islamic State.

HACKER GROUP CLAIMS IT’S TAKEN DOWN ISIS TWITTER ACCOUNTS

The activist hacker collective Anonymous says it has taken down thousands of Twitter accounts linked to the Islamic State group.

Anonymous says it’s collecting information from the accounts and plans to turn the details over to authorities.

Syrian refugees must resettle in other States after governors' ban

A family of Syrian refugees bound for a new home in the US state of
Indiana, has been redirected to Connecticut.
The Governor of Indiana took the decision, joining almost 30 governors
to bar refugees from their states following last week's Paris attacks.

Explosions, arrests in Nigeria

Twin suicide bomb attacks in Nigeria have left at least 13 people dead.

The female bombers attacked a market in Northern Nigeria's main city Kano.

It's just the latest in a string of deadly attacks by extremists in the country.

This comes hours after Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the arrest of former government security adviser Sambo Dasuki.

Dasuki is accused of stealing 2 billion dollars that were meant to be used in the fight against Boko Haram militants.

Minneapolis releases names of officers involved in controversial shooting

Officials in Minneapolis have released the names of the two police officers involved in the shooting of an African-American man on Sunday.

New York parade to get security boost in wake of Paris

2 suspected terrorists dead, 7 arrested after police storm Paris apartment

A major police operation to find the mastermind of the Paris bombings has come to an end with two suspected terrorists dead and seven people arrested in the French capital. 

Armed police targeted an apartment in the Saint-Denis area of Paris in the early hours of the morning after intelligence suggested Abdelhamid Abaaoud might be there.  His whereabouts remains unknown.

One of them was a female suicide bomber who blew herself up.

Seven arrests have also been made.

The raid was targeting Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged mastermind of Friday's attacks on Paris which left 129 people dead.

His whereabouts remain unclear.
