EU offers Turkey money to accept refugees

The European Union has agreed to give financial aid to Turkey and to ease visa restrictions for its citizens for cooperation to tackle to refugee crisis.

It comes as Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan ends a two day visit the the EU in Brussels.

The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan says the recent airstrike on a hospital in the northern city of Kunduz was a mistake.

General John Campbell also said he thinks President Obama should revise the current plan to reduce the US force in Afghanistan at the end of 2016.

He told the Senate Armed Services Committee (Tuesday) that the attack occurred despite rigorous US military designed to avoid such mistakes.

General John Campbell also told the Senate Armed Services Committee (Tuesday) that the recent airstrike on a hospital in the northern city of Kunduz was a mistake.

Under current plans the US will cut troop levels from about 9,800 soldiers to about 1,000 embassy-based soldiers but the general said that the "tenuous security situation" might require President Obama to re-think this reduction.

Eleven year-old boy charged with first-degree murder

An 11 year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting an 8 year-old girl in the U.S. State of Tennessee.

IMF trims global economic growth forecast

The International Monetary Fund says the world economy will grow just about 3.1 percent - trimming a fraction off it's previous forecast.

The World Economic Outlook was released ahead of the twice yearly IMF and World Bank meetings, this time hosted by Peru.

Theresa May warns Britain's net migration threatens "cohesive society"

Britain's Home Secretary Theresa May says the number of people coming to live in Britain must be significantly decreased in order to build what she called "a cohesive society".

Speaking a the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, Theresa May said current levels of net migration were not needed and brought little economic benefit. In the past year 330 thousand more people came to live in the UK than moved abroad.

She said Britain would do what it could for refugees but that economic migrants could not be given a free pass to live in the UK, as the country's infrastructure such as housing, schools and hospitals were already under great stress.

Eurozone countries ask of budget targets to be relaxed following refugee crisis
