IRAN TALKS CONTINUE AS DEADLINE APPROACHES

US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif have sat down for a second day of talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, in an attempt to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear programme by the end of the month.

With just two weeks to go before the deadline, talks are at a crucial point.

RYANAIR PLANS TRANSATLANTIC BUDGET FLIGHTS

Budget airline Ryanair says it hopes to offer flights between Europe and the US withing five years.

3 more charged in Russian opposition politician's murder

Three more suspects in February's shooting of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov have been officially charged with involvement in his murder, reports the Interfax news agency.


It comes as the lawyer of the main suspect says his client has an alibi.

Sydney hostage cafe to re-open this week

Moscow puts on shows in Crimea to mark annexation

Celebrations on the streets of Crimea's main cities are being organised by Moscow to mark a year since the peninsula was annexed by Russia from Ukraine.


The annexation was completed after Russian troops were sent to the region amid international condemnation and after a disputed referendum boycotted by Crimeans loyal to Ukraine.

White House clarifies Sec. Kerry statement on Syria

The White House has clarified U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's statement on Syria.

Over the weekend, the Secretary of State raised eyebrows when he told an American broadcaster, CBS News that Washington will have to negotiate in the end with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Now, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, that really meant the Assad regime.

Death toll climbs following Vanuatu cyclone

The United Nations has confirmed at least 24 died when Cyclone Pam tore across the island nation of Vanuatu.

Possible delay for Durst murder case

The California murder trial of Robert Durst may be delayed as authorities in New Orleans mull charges against the real estate heir.

Mr. Durst was participating in the filming of a documentary, HBO's "the Jinx," when the filmmakers recorded him saying while in the bathroom, that he'd killed them all, referring to the people in his life who had mysteriously died over the years.

After a court appearance in New Orleans, his attorney Dick DeGuerin said they were were prepared.

Netanyahu breaks with Washington on Palestinian statehood

Just hours before Israelis go to the polls, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that if he is re-elected, there will not be an independent Palestinian state.

Just over five years ago, he endorsed the idea, but in the last year allowed U.S. brokered talks come to nothing and has continued to allow Jewish settlements in regions claimed by the Palestinian Authority.

EU foreign ministers discuss Ukraine and Iran nuclear deal in Brussels

EU foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to evaluate the Minsk ceasefire agreement in Ukraine and the ongoing conflict in Libya.
