Americans go to the polls for mid-term elections

Polls are now open as Americans vote for 36 U.S. Senate seats, all 435 U.S. House of Representatives seats, and many local races.

With many races tightening in the final days of campaigning, the question for many candidates is who will show up and actually cast a ballot.

Midterm Elections underway in US in big test for Obama

The polls have opened in America's mid-term elections, with Republicans hopeful that they will win a majority in the US Senate, and be in a position to block Barack Obama's legislative goals for the rest of his Presidency.

Polls open in US Midterm Elections

Turnout is expected to be low - polls suggest two-thirds of the electorate will stay away from polling booths amid widespread disillusionment with America's political leaders.

A British spy chief says US tech companies like Facebook and Twitter have been 'transformational' for extremist groups, and must do more to co-operate with intelligence agencies.

Russia takes down Steve Jobs memorial after Tim Cook comes out as gay
