'HOUSE ARREST ENOUGH FOR PISTORIUS'

There have been angry exchanges in court in South Africa after a defence witness suggested Oscar Pistorius should not go to jail.

The probation officer appearing for the defence said house arrest and community service would be appropriate for the athlete.

He was found guilty last month of the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, but was cleared of murder.

Sentencing hearings are now underway, and Pistorius faces up to 15 years in jail.

Probation officer Joel Maringa told the court three years house arrest would be enough - to an angry response from prosecutor Gerrie Nel.

CDC: "Breach in protocol" Likely Cause of U.S. Ebola Transmission

A breach of protocol may caused a health care worker at a Dallas hospital to preliminarily test positive for Ebola, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The health care worker, identified as a female nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, had extensive contact on multiple occasions with Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S. who died last week.

If confirmed, it would be the first known case of the disease being transmitted in the U.S.

Dr. Anthony Fauci [[FOW-chee]] of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases told America's NBC News that the nurse may have made a simple mistake removing protective gear, which could reveal a break in protocol.
