Main parties pledge in Scottish referendum

The leaders of the UK's three main political parties have published a pledge to devolve more powers to Scotland, if Scots reject independence in Thursday's referendum.

The Prime Minister David Cameron, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg and Labour leader Ed Miliband have all signed the plan - with just 2 days until the vote.

US CARRIES OUT IRAQ AIR STRIKES AS IS STRATEGY WIDENS

The US has carried out its first air strikes since widening its strategy to defeat the Islamic State militant group.

American forces carried out an attack on an IS position south-west of Baghdad.

The US continues its efforts to build an international coalition to fight the militants in Syria and Iraq.

It follows the beheading of British aid worker David Haines by IS.

UK PLEDGES MORE POWERS TO SCOTLAND ON 'NO' VOTE

In the UK, the three main political parties at Westminster have signed a pledge to devolve more power to Scotland if it rejects independence.

Scots vote on Thursday on whether to leave the UK and become an independent country.

The 'Yes' campaign, headed by the Scottish National Party, says new powers for Scotland can only be guaranteed with a vote for independence in Thursday's referendum.

Ebola on Pres Obama's agenda

U. S . President Barack Obama has called the Ebola epidemic ravaging Africa a national security priority.

With estimates that 20000 could be infected before the virus burns itself out, the American president is heading to the U-S Centers for Disease Control for an update on US efforts to help slow the spread.

500 migrant boat sinking was 'intentional'

US Attorney General announces pilot program to counter home grown extremism

US attorney general Eric Holder has announced a strategy aimed at preventing American extremists from joining terrorist groups, including those drawn to conflicts in Syria and Iraq.
