The United States is planning a new round of military strikes on Iran as soon as this weekend, according to officials cited by CNN and Fox News, though the Pentagon has given no confirmation and the operation could still be called off.
The prospect of further escalation comes as Iran's Revolutionary Guard has vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and to punish what it calls the aggressor, following heavy US strikes earlier in the week.
