US President Donald Trump says the United States has total control over the Strait of Hormuz region, as Washington's naval blockade continues to squeeze Iran's economy.
Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has responded by calling for an end to the months-long war, saying Tehran is negotiating from a position of strength — while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to announce what Washington is calling the strongest sanctions ever imposed on Iran.
President Trump says the economic pressure is working but that Iran is not yet ready to agree to a deal.
