Pakistan's government says it will challenge a Supreme Court order to transfer jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison to a private hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment.
The court ordered on Tuesday that the 73-year-old be moved from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to Shifa International Hospital within two days, citing concerns for his health and safety.
Government ministers have argued that the ruling goes beyond what the law permits, saying all prisoners must be treated in government facilities — and they say the transfer raises further concerns.
