US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says no new trade talks are planned with Canada after fifty per cent tariffs on twenty billion dollars' worth of Canadian goods took effect on Saturday.
Greer accused Ottawa of walking back commitments reached earlier in the week, while Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has suspended negotiations and vowed dollar-for-dollar retaliation starting on the eighth of September.
Both sides are blaming each other for the collapse of a deal that US President Donald Trump had declared done just days ago.
