A judge in the US state of New Mexico has declared Meta a public nuisance and ordered the social media giant to pay 567 million dollars into a fund for teenage mental health services.
The ruling on Thursday brings total penalties against the company in New Mexico to nearly a billion dollars, after a jury imposed 375 million dollars in civil fines in March.
Meta says it will appeal, saying it works hard to keep users safe on its platforms.
