Moroccan security forces arrested nearly three hundred sub-Saharan African migrants and sixty-one Moroccan facilitators on Saturday as they attempted to reach Spain's Ceuta enclave by land and sea, blocking a new mass crossing organised through social media.
The crackdown comes two weeks after more than seventy thousand people rushed towards the enclave in one of the deadliest migration crises to hit the region, leaving at least ninety-six dead.
The European Union has since turned its attention to the role social media platforms played in fuelling the crisis.
