UK GOVT LOWERS BUS FARES

The cap on fares outside of London will come down from £3 to £2 in January.

The opposition Conservatives are questioning the government's explanation of how the measure will be funded.

But Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander says new Prime Minister Andy Burnham is focusing on the cost of living as a major priority.
