The Sudanese army has recaptured the city of Bara and other strategic positions in North Kordofan state after heavy fighting with the Rapid Support Forces.
The military says it destroyed dozens of RSF vehicles during the operation, which it says has opened a vital supply corridor to the besieged city of El Obeid and reduced the threat to the capital Khartoum.
The advances come as the army demands a full RSF withdrawal from all cities it controls as a condition for agreeing to a US-proposed ninety-day truce.
