ISRAEL REJECTS HAMAS DISARMAMENT DEAL AS AIRSTRIKES HIT GAZA HOURS AFTER TRUMP'S ANNOUNCEMENT

Several Palestinians were wounded in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza on Friday, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced a deal for the complete disarmament of Hamas — a deal the Israeli government says it cannot accept.

The agreement, signed in El-Alamein in Egypt, would require Israel to pull back from territory it has seized in Gaza beyond the positions it held when the ceasefire took effect — but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's defence minister has repeatedly said Israel will remain in Gaza permanently.

From Tel Aviv, Blake Sifton reports.
