Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has declared that the Strait of Hormuz is under Tehran's command, not that of the US military's Central Command, rejecting a US-led regional security dialogue in Bahrain.
The statement comes as shipping through the strait remains at roughly a third of pre-war levels, with international maritime bodies extending the waterway's warlike operations classification until the ninth of July.
US President Donald Trump has sought to portray the reopening of the strait more positively.
