French authorities ordered the evacuation of nearly four thousand more people from tourist sites on the Atlantic coast on Tuesday, as rising temperatures threatened firefighters' fragile hold on the vast wildfire west of Bordeaux.
The main blaze in the Gironde department has been described as stabilised, with the burned area holding steady at four hundred and twenty square kilometres — but officials have counted fourteen smaller fires that have reignited around it.
Across France and Spain combined, roughly three hundred and thirty thousand people have been displaced by wildfires.
