WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS IRAN DEAL CONCESSIONS AS REPUBLICAN SENATORS WARN OF WORST FOREIGN POLICY BLUNDER IN DECADES

The White House has published the full text of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with Iran — a fourteen-point document that commits both sides to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing financial restrictions on Tehran, and setting a framework for future nuclear talks.

The formal signing is scheduled for tomorrow at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland, triggering a sixty-day window to negotiate a final agreement to be endorsed by the United Nations.

Under the terms, Washington would immediately waive oil sanctions on Iran — a concession that goes further than the 2015 nuclear deal.

Nick Harper reports from Washington.
