TALIBAN DELEGATION GIVEN ONE-DAY VISA FOR CONTROVERSIAL BRUSSELS TALKS ON DEPORTATION OF AFGHAN NATIONALS

A Taliban delegation has held talks with European Commission officials in Brussels — the first such visit since the group seized power in Afghanistan five years ago.

The trip has drawn sharp criticism from human rights groups, with Amnesty International staging a protest outside the European Commission building displaying a banner reading "shame."

Germany remains the only European country to have accepted diplomatic appointments from the Taliban government.
