US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is meeting Gulf Cooperation Council representatives in Bahrain on Thursday, the last leg of a three-nation tour to build support for the memorandum of understanding Washington signed with Tehran.
Before leaving Kuwait, Rubio defended the decision to lift sanctions on Iran, calling it a temporary sixty-day measure and warning that US President Donald Trump has options if Tehran fails to honour its commitments.
