Iran has accused the United Arab Emirates of actively participating in military strikes against Iranian infrastructure during the recent US-Israeli operation, in a heated exchange at the BRICS security summit in New Delhi on Tuesday.
India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval opened the two-day gathering of security chiefs from all eleven BRICS nations by welcoming the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping lane.
Doval said a lasting resolution to the conflict would have far-reaching benefits for the developing world.
