India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held what New Delhi described as constructive talks on Monday, on the sidelines of the BRICS national security advisers' meeting in the Indian capital.
India's foreign ministry said both sides noted progress towards a gradual normalisation of ties, while Beijing's readout urged both countries to respect each other's core interests.
The meeting is Wang Yi's first visit to India since August last year, and is seen as laying the groundwork for a possible visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to India for the BRICS summit later this year.
