FIFA World Cup begins in Mexico

The FIFA World Cup kicks off today [Thursday - 19GMT kickoff] with the opening match in Mexico City.

It's the largest ever football tournament with a record 48 teams taking part across the three host nations: Mexico, Canada and the United States.

Security is tight ahead of the first game, amid problems over entry visas and thousands of unsold tickets due to high prices.
