The UK central bank has decided to keep its interest rate at 3.75%, largely due to uncertainty about the ongoing effect of the war in Iran.
Without the conflict, economists had expected 2026 to be year of further interest rate reductions closer to the Bank of England’s 2% target. But global price shocks have interfered.
