Questions loom over US and India trade deal

India has defended its interim trade pact with the US - while neither confirming nor denying US claims that it will stop buying Russian oil.

The deal, announced last week after months of trade tensions, brings down tariffs on Indian exports to the US to 18% from a whopping 50%.

But critics say the deal is lopsided, with the opposition claiming New Delhi has ceded more ground than planned to push the pact through.
