The French wine and spirits industry has reacted with anger at the prospect of a 200% tariff on its exports to the United States — which American President Donald Trump is threatening in a tit-for-tat trade war with the European Union.
France says it doesn't want a trade war but "will react firmly to safeguard the interests of its companies in the face of arbitrary measures that violate international law."
