Gaza authorities: 700 killed in overnight strikes, highest 24-hour death toll yet

Authorities in Gaza say a further 700 Palestinians were killed in
overnight airstrikes carried out by Israel.

It's the highest 24-hour death toll in more than two and a half weeks
of fighting.

It comes as Hamas released two elderly hostages on Monday - one of
them telling media after her release she had "been through hell."

Ross Cullen in Tel Aviv says much of the focus is now on trying to
secure the release of more people.
