The US Transportation Secretary will pursue new regulations to boost rail safety following a toxic gas spill in Ohio.
Earlier this month a train carrying a cocktail of chemicals derailed in the village of East Palestine (PALESTEEN).
Train operator Norfolk Southern then released and burnt the chemicals to avoid an explosion, sending a plume of black smoke into the air.
The company has committed millions of dollars of support for affected families.
Sally Patterson reports.
