TURKEY AND SYRIA RESCUE OPERATION HAMPERED BY WEATHER

More than 4800 people are now known to have died in Turkey and Syria after Monday's earthquake and aftershock.

Rescue efforts have been hampered by poor weather.

The 7.8 magnitude quake struck on Monday in southern Turkey.

Guardian journalist in Istanbul Ruth Michaelson says conditions are particularly challenging for rescuers in Syria.
