France, Spain and Portugal have announced a new undersea pipeline to carry natural gas "as a temporary and transitional source of energy".
A previous plan for a pipeline to link Spain and Portugal was ditched in favour of this new route to southern France, with the possibility of onward connections to help central European countries with power supplies.
