Bank of England steps up intervention

The Bank of England has stepped up its emergency intervention to calm the UK economy.


It says it will buy more government bonds to try to stabilise market conditions.


This comes following Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's mini-budget last month, which saw the pound plummet to record lows against the dollar.
