Spacecraft about to crash into asteroid .... intentionally

A NASA spacecraft is deliberately slamming into an asteroid — all in the name of planetary protection.

The DART mission, or the Double Asteroid Redirection Test, is set to crash on Monday evening (Eastern Time) into Dimorphos, a small moon in an asteroid system 11 million kilometres from Earth.

The aim: to change the orbit of a rock in space, as Benji Hyer explains.
