UK ENERGY WATCHDOG WANTS EXTRA PROTECTION ON CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS

The UK energy watchdog has announced plans to better protect customers' monthly bill payments - after millions lost positive credit balances on their accounts following the closure of a number of UK energy firms. The watchdog, Ofgem, wants to tighten rules on how much money can be held by a supplier and ensure that cash is passed on should a company fold. Laura Makin-Isherwood has more.
